Administrative Processing

Additional review of a visa application by the State Department after the interview.

Administrative processing (sometimes called "221(g) refusal") is a temporary refusal pending additional review — security checks, document verification, or interagency clearance. It can take weeks to months and is the leading cause of consular delays.
