A grandfathered provision letting certain people adjust status despite unlawful entry.
INA §245(i) lets certain noncitizens who entered without inspection or worked without authorization apply for adjustment of status if a qualifying petition was filed for them on or before April 30, 2001. Eligibility requires a $1,000 penalty fee.
